The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded all necessary arrangements to conduct the bye-election for Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State following the death of the former member, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Fagen Gawo.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded all necessary arrangements to conduct the bye-election for Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State following the death of the former member, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Fagen Gawo.

This was disclosed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mahmoud Isah while responding to questions from our correspondent shortly after the conduct of primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for seat held at the secretariat of Babura Local Government Area of the state recently.

Dr. Isah stated further that ahead of the bye-election, his Commission has recruited 1, 204 ad-hoc staff mostly youth corps members, saying that they will soon commence training for the job.

He said that a total of 11 political parties will participate in the election, assuring that the Commission will conduct a reliable, acceptable, free and fair poll.

In a related development, Musa Adamu Muhammad, the elder son of the late member representing Bubara/Garki Federal Constituency has emerged as the flag bearer of the APC who pulled 547 votes to defeat his sibling, Aliyu Adamu Muhammad and two other contestants as declared by the Chairman, Electoral Committee for the polls, Malam Muhammad Aminu Ibrahim.
