World Bank has set aside $250 million to empower gender and vulnerable groups in Katsina State. The amount is to be disbursed in collaboration with the state Community and Social Development Project Agency (CSDPA).
The officer in charge of Gender and Vulnerable Groups of the agency, Mrs. Junic Garba revealed this in a paper she presented during pre-disbursement training organized by CSDPA to various communities.
She explained that widows, divorces, orphans, blind, lepers, disable and HIV patients are among the beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the World Bank has disbursed N5 million to communities of Duru, Yankwana and Fada Yandaki in Mani, Rimi and Kaita Local Government Areas.
The amount would be used for drilling of motorized boreholes, construction of drainage and health centres.
The Acting Manager of the agency, Alhaji Muhammad Dikko Abdullahi, who disbursed the amount to benefitting communities, said the agency would monitor the execution of the project.
Represented by the Manager Finance and Administration, Magaji Yusuf Bakori, he commanded the state government for prompt settlement of counterpart fund to the World Bank.
