The Federal Government has commenced disbursement of N2.8 billion to 142,000 poor families in Katsina State.

The head of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) of the Federal Government Social Investment Programme, Shafiu Abdullahi Zango revealed this to The Triumph recently.
Zango said the disbursement was part of palliative measures to Nigerians on effect of coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, the 142, 000 poor families are selected from 12 local government areas out of 34.
He said the areas include Baure, Mani, Ingawa, Bindawa, Rimi, Kaita, Batagarawa, Danmusa, Dandume, Bakori, Musawa and Kankara.
Zango added that the beneficiaries were selected after careful assessment by a team of the Social Investment Programme.
He said each of the poor families would be giving N20, 000, adding that females constitute 70 per cent of the beneficiaries.
Zango said the Federal Government had already commenced enumeration of poor families from the remaining 22 local government areas to benefit from the programme.
He commended President Mahammadu Buhari for introducing the programme to alleviate suffering of the people of the nation.
Zango appealed to the state government to assist in ending insecurity problem especially in Danmusa Local Government Area. for disbursement of financial assistance to poor families from the area.
He also appealed to the state government to assist the programme with operational vehicles.
