ICT answer to our security challenges – Ganduje
Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullah Umar Ganduje has said that ICT is the answer to the security challenges facing Nigeria.
Speaking during a courtesy visit on him by Board Members of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), led by its Chairman, Senator Olabiyi Durujaye, on Tuesday, Ganduje said: “ICT is the answer to our security situation. Here in Kano we have completed a command and control centre fitted with cameras and computers, which will soon be commissioned by President Buhari.”
According to the governor, there is no way good governance can be executed or the security of lives and property achieved without ICT.
“From here we can survey the whole state and even beyond. We have a very powerful tracker, which is used all over the northern part of the country,” he added.
Ganduje added: “We are very lucky that the NCC is concerned with the high charges by service providers. The commission is working in line with APC’s next level agenda.”
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary NCC, Professor Garba Umar Dambatta said that the board members of the commission were in Kano as part the commission’s annual retreat starting from Monday.
Dambatta said: “It’s out of respect and high regard we are here to pay homage to the governor being number one citizen of the state, and partly to acknowledge the support the same government is rendering to the NCC by way of a waiver granted to MTN.
“We equally appreciate the magnanimity of the governor for granting us two pieces of land.”
He added that the NCC and the Kano State Government will continue to synergize for the development of the people of the state.
