I0,000 students apply for Kano scholarship -Official

The Executive Secretary, Kano State Scholarship Board, Alhaji Abubakar Zakari popularly known as Habu PA has said that over 10,000 students have applied for the 2020 scholarship scheme in the state.
He made this known during a visit by the graduating students of the Al Mansoura University, Egypt.
He noted that the board had made provision for over 40,000 slots to enable eligible students to apply through its portal, adding that the board on September 1 began online registration for the prospectus applicants.
Alhaji Zakari further said that the state government had approved upward review of allowances for the students of the state studying in various of institutions of higher learning in the country, adding that the Ganduje administration had earmarked over N250 million to settle the outstanding tuition and other clearance fees for our students that graduated from Al Mansoura University.
Accordingly, the government sponsored some students to the university but the tuition and clearance fees were not paid, adding that the university authority returned the students back home, but following the intervention of Governor Ganduje, they were able to complete their programmes, saying that with support of the governor, the board had initiated payment process to the university to enable it issue certificates to the affected students.
In a remark, Muhammad Yusuf, the president, Kano State Student Union, Al Masoura University chapter, lauded the gesture, adding that it would go a long way to improve the wellbeing of the students towards achieving academic excellence.
The union also presented letter of commendation to the secretary for his support to its members.
