Hadejia Zakkat Committee distributes N9.4m to poor

Hadejia Emirate Zakkat Committee has collected and distributed foodstuff worth N9.4 million to needy at Baturiya District of the Emirate to cushion the effect of poverty especially at the current time of CIVID-19.
A statement signed by Sanusi A., the Information Officer of Guri Local Government Area, said the gesture came at a time when people were in most need of food to survive.
The statement quoted one of the members of the committee, Engr. Ismaila Garba Barde as saying: “Items collected and distributed include, 815 bags of rice, 69 bags of millet, 64 bags of guinea corn and a bag of beans as arms from the farmers in the area which was distributed to poor people as ordained in the Glorious Qur’an.
He expressed the committee’s appreciation with people of Iyo village for giving out zakkat with a view to cleaning their wealth.
One Islamic cleric, Sheik Yusuf Abdurraham, said for the last 39 years, Bauriya District of Hadejia Emirate has continued to be a pacesetter in terms of giving out Zakkat, praying to God to continue boosting their earnings.
Engr. Garba who led the distribution of the food items to the needy, disclosed that Iyo Village emerged the first in terms of collection of zakkat at the district.
