Group of gunmen in their hundreds have attacked Gurbin Baure village of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State killing seven persons, including a policeman.
Sources confirmed to The Triumph that the gunmen stormed the community at about 10:00pm when people were busy, unsuspecting of the looming danger of gun attack on their community.
The source narrated that the heavily armed gunmen who besieged the village on motorbikes, opened fire on members of the community, shooting indiscriminately at everyone on sight.
According to a source, people were scared to run for safety, and seven persons were already shot dead, including a policeman who rushed to counter the attack.
An indigene of the area, who does not want his name on print, disclosed that the gunmen later went wild and set 12 shops and 13 vehicles ablaze.
The state police command’s spokesman, SP Shehu Muhammad, who was contacted for official comment, confirmed the occurrence of the incidence but however, did not give details particularly regarding the alleged killing of the police man.
