The Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has attributed Kano Pillars’ loss to Enugu Rangers in the final of this year’s Aiteo Cup known as national challenge cup competition to the hard luck.
Dr. Gawuna, who was among the special guests of honour at the final, described the performance of the players as superlative.
According to him, despite the fact that the Kano side was leading 3-0 up to 75th minutes of the game, but Enugu Rangers leveled it up and went ahead to defeat the Kano side through penalty kicks.
Dr. Gawuna explained that at a time when most Kano people have started celebrating victory in advance but suddenly the situation changed in favour of Enugu Rangers and that’s football, said he.
The Deputy Governor assured that the present administration led by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje would continue to support the team morally and financially with a view to actualizing the desired objective.
While commending thousands of Kano fans who stormed Asaba to support their darling team, he appealed to them to keep it up in future competitions.
Dr. Gawuna who doubles as the national president of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) reiterated his commitment and determination towards moving sports to greater heights in the state and the country at large.
All the 44 local government areas of the state have sponsored teeming football fans to cheer Kano Pillars in Asaba.
