Fighting measles, meningitis: Lafia spends N1m

As part of efforts to tackle children’s killer diseases, the authority of Lafia Local Government Council has earmarked N1million for immunization on measles and meningitis across the locality.
The Council’s Director of Primary Healthcare Centres, HajiyaLamiRabiu who disclosed this in an interview recently, said: “This morning was put together to curtail measles and meningitis and other children’s killer diseases to ensure a free society.”
Mrs. Rabiu further stated that the Council’s Chairman, AminuMu’azuMaifata is working round the clock to ensure total eradication of any disease affecting children in the area.
On the strength of PHC staffers, she said, “we have a total of 130 workforce who are in the payroll of the council, though we have casual and voluntary staff who are assisting in providing health care delivery to their various communities.
“We have about 110 facilities in Lafia metropolis outside the other areas who we are serving when the needs arise,” she noted.
Speaking on the welfares of health workers, Rabiu showered commendation on the Council Chairman for his up and doing to provide them with all necessary tools needed and monitory aspects to enhance their performance.
