From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
Alhaji Sani Fema, a seasoned sports administrator and former Executive Board Member of the Nigerian Football Association, (NFA), has been appointed by the Senate President Senator, Alhaji Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan as his Special Assistant on Sports Development.
In a letter dated May 14, this year and signed by Clerk to the National Assembly, Muhammad Ataba Sani-Omolori, Fema’s appointment would take effect from the date of resumption.
The clerk, while congratulating Fema, stated that his appointment was at the pleasure of the Senate President.
“Please accept my congratulations and best wishes on your appointment which is a testimony of the President of the Senate’s confidence and trust in you,” Sani-Omolori stated.
Alhaji Fema was the Executive Chairman of Yobe State Sports Commission between 2007 and 2015.
He also served as the chairman of Yobe Deserts Football Club from 2001 to 2015.
Between 2004 and 2005, Fema was Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim’s Special Adviser on Sports, a position he maintained when late Governor Mamman Ali was elected in 2005 until 2007.
It is believed that his experience, loyalty, go-getting spirit and grassroots network would be deployed to ease the work of the Senate President in many areas apart from the sports sector.
