Environment ministry collaborates with marketers on sanitization

“Environmental sanitation and cleanliness are among the cardinal principles of the present administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in Kano State,” the state Commissioner of Environment, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso has disclosed.
He disclosed this during a meeting with leaders of Kantin Kwari, Yan Lemo and Rimi Market Traders Associations recently.
Dr. Getso, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Hussam Musa Karry said the meeting was intended to collaborate with them to have a cleaner, healthier and sanitized environment free of refuse.
He said in its efforts to clear drainages and clean the environment, the ministry deems it fit to liaise with the leadership of all the markets in the metropolis and inform them of its resolve in bringing out ways to tackle the issue of waste in addition to the role each and every one should to play towards achieving the desired objective in the state.
He added: “Most of the useful and productive hours are spent at the market, therefore stakeholders need to be intimated on the designed programme set by the ministry, and if implemented successfully, the issue of refuse and waste would be tackled head on, because most of it are accumulated from the markets.”
In their separate remarks, chairmen of Kantin Kwari, Alhaji Sharif Sagir Wada; Yanlemo, Alhaji Muhammad Umar and Rimi Markets, Alhaji Hussaini Muhammad Yola assured of support and cooperation with the present administration in the state in order to achieve the set objectives, says Abbas Habeeb Abbas, the spokesperson of the ministry.
