Emir of Lafia re-appointed NJC member

The Chief Justice of the Federation, Hon, Justice Tanko Mohammed has approved the appointment of Emir of Lafia and chairman Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Justice Sidi Bage as member of National Judicial Council (NJC).
A letter dated May 4, 2020 indicated that the appointment will take effect from June 1, 2020.
“I therefore have the pleasure to re-appoint you as member of National Judicial Council effect from June, 1 2020,” the letter reads.
According to the provision of section 153(2), 155(1xc) and paragraph 20(d) of part 1 of the third schedule of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stipulated clearly that five retired Justices of the Supreme Court or Appeal Court are to be appointed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria to serve as members of the National Judicial Council for five years.
