Election Tribunal: Kano people salute Shamaki for fair judgment

Following the final judgment of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal headed Justice Halima Shamaki that dismissed the case filed by PDP gubernatorial candidate Abba Kabir Yusuf against the election of DrAbdullahi Umar Ganduje as the Governor of Kano State, a cross-section of people in the State have reacted to the verdict.
The Triumph sampled the reactions of the people on the judgment and expressed their satisfaction, saying it was a fair ruling by Justice Shamaki and appealed to the people of the state to continue their cooperation and support to the government of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje toward moving the state forward. According to the State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, the judgement was a clear indication that the people of Kano voted Dr. Ganduje and called on the opposition to join hands with the state government to move the state forward, while the PDP Chairman, AlhajiRabi’u Sulaiman Bichi said they will study and review the verdict and make public their next line of action.
Concerning an appeal or not, Malam Musa Isa an APC member said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should accept the defeat with dignity and shelve any temptation to appeal the verdict of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which dismissed the case against the Governor.
Commenting, the member representing Gaya, Albasu and AjingiFedreal Constituency Hon. Abullahi Mahmud Gaya described the ruling as another round of victory, saying the truth has prevailed again and it is clear to all now that the victory is genuine as confirmed by the tribunal.
He urged people in the state and particularly members and supporters of the APC to remain calm and avoid being tempted to engage in violence.
Also, former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Kano State, Barrister Ibrahim Muktar commended the Judge for fair judgment and thanked God for the victory, assuring the Governor’s readiness to continue discharging his duties diligently and effectively. Similarly, Adamu Isa Danjuma, an APC member congratulated the entire members of the party particularly the State Governor and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the state, saying the judgment justified the minds of the voters.
Alhaji Saidu Sale WAPA of PDP Kwankwasiyya however, described the judgment as unfortunate, saying there are two more courts the Appeal and the Supreme Courts before surrendering and urged the PDP members to continue praying for success in the next court sittings.
Hajiya Surayya Aminu, former Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths Empowerment described the judgment as clear testimony of Ganduje’s re-election by the people of Kano State, saying that Justice Shamaki deserved commendation from the members of bench for protecting the integrity of justice in the country.
On his part, Chief David Onwere congratulated the State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for winning the case, saying that the Governor will have the opportunity to continue executing meaningful development projects for the people of the state.
He urged the people to consider the Governor’s effort in promoting peace and stability in the state, adding that since Governor Ganduje took over power, the state has not witnessed any violence.
In his comment, Alhaji Liti Kul-Kul thanked the people of the state for their prayers, saying that the judgment was a clear testimony of the present administration’s commitment to the development of the state, appealing to the people of the state to continue their support and cooperation to the government particularly the youth towards promoting their Ganduje Yusuf welfare.
