By Usman Gwadabe
Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulazeez Garba Gafasa has called on the Muslims in the state to use the Ed-el-Kabir celebration to seek God’s forgiveness.
The Speaker made the call in a statement signed and issued to newsmen yesterday by the Assembly’s Director of Press, Alhaji Ali Bala Kofar Kudu.
The Speaker said that due to the importance of the period, any Muslim that seeks God’s forgiveness is expected to be accepted.
“Therefore, people should submit themselves in seeking His forgiveness so that those sins we committed knowingly or unknowingly can be wiped.
“I am also appealing to Muslim to also pray for the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kano, Nigeria and the world in general, as it jeopardized the religious and socio-economic activities.
“We should not also relent in seeking for God’s intervention over the security challenges in some parts of the country.” he noted.
Gafasa also urged the Muslim faithful to always observe ‘Takbir’ and follow the teaching of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by giving out part of their slaughtered animals to the less-privileged.
He further congratulated the entire Muslims in the state as well as Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, members of the state Executive Council, lawmakers, local government council chairmen, party leaders and the five royal fathers in the state.
The Speaker also prayed to God to end the COVID-19 pandemic so that the 2021 Hajj can be performed from all over the world.
