DPR warns petrol dealers against hoarding

Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Katsina State has warned owners of filling stations against hoarding of petrol to cause scarcity during Christmas and new year celebrations.
The Operation Controller of DPR in the state, Alhaji Aminu Muhammad gave the warning while inspecting filling stations at Magamar Jibia town.
Muhammad said the department would not hesitate to close down any filling station hoarding the product. He assured motorists in the state that the department would ensure availability of the petroleum product during and after the celebrations.
Muhammad said the inspection tour to filling station was to ensure that they comply with directive of not selling petroleum, especially filling stations close to boarder areas.
He expressed satisfaction that filling stations located 20 kilometres before boarder areas have complied with the directive of the Federal Government.
Muhammad said the directive was not to cause hardship to people, but to stop illegal smuggling of the product. The DPR Controller called on people in the state to be careful in using petrol and gas during hamattan season.
He said the call became necessary to save lives and properties especially at this time.
