Curfew in Lamurde, Guyuk: Adamawa police deploys more securities

The reoccurrence of crisis in Lafiya in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas of Adamawa State, has necessitated he state Police Command in conjunction with sister agencies to enforce a dusk to dawn curfew in the areas.
The dusk to dawn curfew is imposed following the spread of communal violence in the affected areas.
A statement issued by the state police command image maker, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje warned all and sundry against violating the curfew as such is the same as to testing the will of the police.
Nguroje said: “Adamawa State police command wishes to inform the general public that following the state government imposition of dusk to dawn curfew as a measure to contain the escalation of communal clashes across Lafiya in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas, the command in collaboration with sister security agencies will commence the full enforcement of the directives with immediate effect.”
According to him, to this effect, the state commissioner of Police, Mr. Olugbenga Adeyanju called on members of the general public particularly those in Lafiya and Guyuk communities to adhere strictly and respectfully obey such order until further notice:
“The Command has deployed a task force team that comprises of police and other security agents to enforce the government directives.
“The command urged members of the public to adhere strictly and equally warns officers and men deployed for this operation to display high level of professionalism, operate within the context of the law and respect human rights,” it said.
The statement however stated that: “the command therefore, assured all members of its commitment to protecting lives and properties and called on people to stop taking laws into their hands, stay at home and remain safe.”
