It could be recalled that the board’s Executive Secretary, Malam Bashir Sirajo Gusau, the Director in charge of Zakat Collection, Alhaji Ibrahim Tudu and the Director Distribution, Malam Dalhatu Umar Jauri were relieved of their positions four days ago by the board’s chairman and his committee members.
In a sharp reaction, the state government has suspended the activities of the board members and appointed a committee to investigate the root cause of the removal of the three officers.
The committee, which was headed by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Malam Tukur Sani Jangebe was given one week to complete its assignment and submit report to the state government.
Speaking to newsmen, the committee’s chairman, Jangebe said, his committee would work assiduously to complete its assignment within the stipulated period.
Meanwhile, the activities of the board are at standstill pending the outcome of the investigation.
Our reporter, who visited the premises of the board, discovered a large number of orphans and the less-privileged, waiting to collect food items as promised by the state government.
Over 40,000 orphans would be given assorted grains and clothing materials by the state government as Ramadan welfare package through the board.
