Covid-19: Yobe imposes curfew from 8:00pm to 6:00am

Following the growing number of infected persons with the coronavirus in Yobe State, the government has imposed an overnight curfew which commenced from 8:00pm to 6:00am daily with effect from May 4, 2020.
Yobe State Police Command would commence the enforcement of restriction of movement and social gathering in all 17 local government areas of the state.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim said, the boundaries/border closure with other states would be sustained until further notice with the exception of food stuff, pharmaceuticals and items under exemption.
“Any persons found in the street in violation of the curfew will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement added.
“This is based on the Federal Government orders announced on 27th April, 2020 and the resolution passed by the Yobe State Committee on the fight against Covid-19 on 4th May, 2020,” it said.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Yahaya Sahabo Abubakar has enjoined the general public to cooperate with the authorities in the fight against the deadly virus and support the police in the discharge of their statutory duties.
