Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano has announced suspension of all academic activities across its campuses for a period of 30 days.
COVID-19: Maitama Sule varsity suspends academic activities
The suspension of lectures and teachings in the university followed a recent directive of the state government through its Ministry for Higher Education to do so with a view to containing and preventing the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19) in the country.
“The Vice-Chancellor, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa, on behalf of the Senate, has approved the suspension of all academic activities (lectures, teaching) across its campuses for a period of one month with effect from last Monday, with a view to containing and preventing the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19) in the country,” a statement from Malam Abdullahi Abba Hassan, head, Information, Publications and Public Relations Unit of the university has said.
The statement made available to The Triumph in Kano added: “In this regard, all students are directed to remain at home for the period.
“The Vice-Chancellor enjoined the university community to pray and abide by the protective measures against the virus such as ensuring personal hygiene and social distancing.
“However, all administrative activities will continue accordingly.”
