COVID-19: Katsina receives N207.5m from individuals, organisations

Katsina State Emergency Response Committee on COVID-19 has generated over N207.5 million as donation from individuals and organisations.
The highest donation came from a Katsina-based businessman, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, who donated N100 million.
The chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu revealed this at press conference in the state, recently.
Yakubu, who is also the state deputy governor, said they were expecting a pledge of N33.5 million.
He said the committee expended over N172.7 million to carry out its activities.
Yakubu said out of the amount, N106 million was used for provision of medical equipment at four isolation centres.
He said N19.1 million was spent by the committee for fumigation of Mosques and Churches.
He further said the committee expended N3.7 million for training of diseases notification officers from 34 local government areas.
He further said the committee has provided allowances of N10 million to doctors, nurses and other medical personnel to motivate them.
Yakubu said the committee also provided assistance of N3.5 million to the state traders association for enlightenment against the virus.
He commended financial assistance from individuals and organisations for the fight against the disease.
