COVID-19: Buhari saluted for banning rice importation

It has been observed that the banning of importation of rice into the nation by President Muhammadu Buhari has made a great impact with the present situation of the global coronavirus pandemic.
The Omekari-ibe I. Umuopara, Umuahia in Abia State, Chief David N. Onwere made the observation in an interview with The Triumph in his office, describing the foresight of the president as a great achievement to the growth of domestic rice marketing.
He said the global pandemic of COVID -19 has affected the world’s economy, saying that all the countries have closed down their borders for both importation and exportation.
He pointed out that the improvement of local rice production by the Buhari administration has assisted into minimizing the importation of foreign rice from Asian continent.
Chief Onwere urged the people to consider the effort of the present administration in promoting health sector in the country, saying that commitment shown by federal and state governments to COVID-19 disease, are impressive.
He commended the state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for locking the state to curtail the spread of the disease, appealing to the people to cooperate with government efforts.
