By our correspondent

Clinical departments at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Kano has introduced telemedicine to provide clinical services to patients during the ongoing lockdown, occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was disclosed by AKTH Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Hajia Hauwa Abdullahi, in a statement made available to The Triumph on Monday in Kano.

According to the statement, patients for follow-ups, rather than emergencies, are expected to call their respective specialist-doctors and explain their health problems.

Based on the complaints, prescriptions would be made for them by the doctors through text messages.

Hauwa Abdullahi added that recommendations and suggestions on way forward regarding each of the cases would also be made.

She, however, advised the patients to go straight to their problems to enable the doctors to understand their conditions and make appropriate prescriptions.

The introduction of the telemedicine in many of its clinical departments is with a view to decongesting and easing access to patients during the Pandemic.
