Be good ambassadors, NEWMAP committees told in Kano

Kano State Commissioner of Environment and Chairman of the state Steering Committee of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (Kano-NEWMAP), Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso has enjoined nine community associations and site committees of the project in the affected communities to to become good ambassadors of the project in their various localities.
He made the disclosure during a workshop organized by Africa Desertification Control Innovative (ADCI) in conjunction with the NEWMAP held in the state.
According to him, the workshop aimed at making stakeholders, especially at the community levels, more acquainted with the ethics governing the implementation of the project.
Dr. Getso stressed the need for them to make judicious utilisation of the experience gained in the cause of the workshop, adding that opportunities of such kind rarely comes in life.
He noted that the workshop was designed as part of deliberate efforts of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration towards partnering with development partners to alleviate suffering of the peoples following soil erosion.
Participants at the event were trained on techniques toward ending the menace at the affected sites, while the workshop was anchored by experts from different walks of life.
At the end of the two-day event, participants were presented with certificates of attendance.
