Bauchi declares 15th January Balewa Prayer Day

Bauchi State Government has declared that it will henceforth, ensure that 15th January of every year, would be used to organise a public lecture and prayer in honour of late Nigeria’s first and only Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
The plan was announced by the State Governor, Sen. BalaAbdulkadir
Muhammad, KauranBauchi, at the maiden edition of the Annual Memorial
Lecture and Prayer in honour of the late Prime Minister held at the
AbubakarTafawaBalewa Tomb, Bauchi.
The Governor also said that the lecture and prayer are to orient citizens of the State on the lifestyle of the late Prime Minister in order to encourage the younger generation to emulate him.
According to him, the State Government will promote culture through
organising such an event considering the contributions of Sir Balewa to the independence of the country.
The Governor who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Modibbo Ahmad, recalled that the late
Prime Minister had worked positively during the First Republic with other regions and tribes of the country.
He said: ”Late Nigeria’s Prime Minister, Sir AbubakarTafawa
Balewa is a property of not only the State, country but international in general. We must emulate his legacies for the country to progress.”
To this end, the Governor said that through the Ministry of Education Government will come up with reading of books to train students on the legacies and lifestyle of the late Prime Minister for the future of the country.
