Bandits kill 9 soldiers in Zamfara

Suspected armed bandits at Sunke village under Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State have allegedly killed nine soldiers recently, The Triumph has learnt.

 

According to reliable source, over 100 gunmen had invaded and opened fire on soldiers stationed at Sunke village, almost 30 kilometers away from Anka Local Government headquarters, among whom were police personnel.

 

A highly ranked official within the state government who spoke with The Triumph said, the killing of soldiers followed alleged killing of repented bandits by the soldiers in the area.

 

According to security report gathered by the state government, the bandits have vowed to retaliate the alleged killing of their members by the soldiers in the area.

 

The government had, a couple of weeks ago, raised alarm over possible attack on seven targeted local government areas in the state by the dispersed members of Boko Haram.

It would be recalled that last sometime back, there were movements of armed bandits en-masse crossing main road leading to Sokoto from Gusau which according to eyewitnesses at Mayanci village under Maru Local Government Area,  the bandits announced their leave for Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State for a revenge mission.

Impeccable source within the Nigerian Army who spoke with newsmen under anonymity, confirmed the incidence, adding that the exact number of casualties could not be ascertained.
