As Ganduje wins at tribunal, Kano goes agog

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Miller Road in Kano, the capital of Kano State, has on Wednesday quashed the petition filed before it by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf during the March 9 general elections this year challenging the victory of All Progressives Congress (APC) and its gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The tribunal, under the chairmanship of Hon. Justice Halima Shamaki, dismissed the PDP’s petition because the petitioners could not prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.
Commenting after the verdict, former commissioner of information in the state, Comrade Muhammad Garba, said he was happy about the judgement.
He said the verdict has proven that Governor Ganduje was duly elected at the polls.
“I thank God for the victory and call on the well meaning people of the state to live in peace and give the governor cooperation to continue moving the state forward.
“I also want to use this forum to thank the chairman of the tribunal, Hon. Justice Halima Shamaki for her patience throughout the period she took in the case,” Comrade Garba stated.
Also speaking in an exclusive interview, former commissioner of health in the state, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, thanked God for the victory, wishing the people of the state to continue to give the governor all cooperation at all times.
“I am using this medium to call on the governor to continue to execute laudable projects for the emancipation of the people of the state and also to thank God for the victory,” Dr. Getso said.
Meanwhile, the court sitting was filled to the brim with those who is who as far as the state is concerned.
