Army vows to confront security challenges in North West

The 8th Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto says it will continue to evolve strategies to confront diverse contemporary challenges bedevilling the region.
The Acting General Officer Ccommanding the 8th Division, Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. AminuBande disclosed this on the occasion of the 8th Division’s West African Social Activities (WASA) for the year 2019 held at the Battalion Parade Ground recently.
Gen. Bande assured that the Army are ready to confront security challenges particularly, terrorism and insurgency, banditry, cattle rustling and kidnapping being waged against “our dear nation by criminals and enemies of the State.”
Bande therefore called on all the commanders at all levels to remain focused, trained and be ready to deal decisively with threats to security in their areas of responsibility.
He further called on every one to maintain a high level of security alertness and be familiar with environment and report any strange occurrences or unusual activities within the environment.
While urging host communities to remain resolute and report all misdemeanors, he reminded that security is a collective responsibility of all, noting that the event was specially organised to mark the end of the division’s training schedule for the year 2019.😕
Highlights of the event included display of rich, diverse cultures and traditions of ethnic groups in Nigeria and presentation of prizes to some of the personnel who excelled in various disciplines.
