Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has joined the ranks of faith-based organisations in the support of the Federal Government in the fight against coronavirus by donating some food items to the Presidential Task Force.
The items were received on behalf of the Chairman/Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, by the National Coordinator, Sani Aliyu, in Abuja.
The PTF chairman thanked the group for coming to the aid of the committee by making such donation in the aid of the poor and vulnerable in the society.
He observed with gratitude the compliance level of the society with regard to the ban on mass gathering in the form of worship in the Mosques as well as adherence to the social/physical distancing policy on COVID-19.
He said that faith-based organisations have continued to lend their support to the activities of the PTF noting that such support was what was required to curtail the pandemic, urging other organisations to emulate the Ansar-ud-Deen Society.
The SGF also stated that organisations such as Ansar-ud-Deen Society have continued to provide a platform for a strong united common voice in the struggle to curtail COVID-19 in the country.
Earlier, the Deputy National Chairman, Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Dr. Yusuf Adebayo Ibrahim had commended the efforts of the Federal Government by establishing the Presidential Task Force to combat COVID-19 in Nigeria.
He assured the PTF of its solidarity and support in the efforts aimed at protecting lives and property in the country by working hard to overcome the rampaging coronavirus.
He pledged to continue to support the government in its activities which are citizen-centered and thus providing platform for advocacy, compliance and feedback for Muslims in Nigeria.
The food items donated to the PTF included cartons of noodles and some bags of rice worth millions of Naira, a statement by Willie Bassey, the Director Information of the SGF, has disclosed.
