Member representing Ajingi, Gaya and Albasu at the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya has said that the launching of Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project recently is the right step toward fast tracking reindustrialization process of the country.
The member who is the Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) made this known recently.
He added that the project would help revive the lost glory of Kano being the second industrialised state in the country and also being the gate way of businesses for the West African sub-region.
According to him, the project was a section of Trans-Nigerian Gas Pipeline under the gas infrastructure blueprint designed to enable the industrialization of the Eastern and Northern parts of Nigeria to revive.
He further explained that the project will definitely steer the way for the development of gas based industries in these states.
He added that at same time it would pave way for Independent Power Plants for industries in Abuja, Ajaokuta, Kano and Kaduna that needed electricity to make them work in full capacity.
The lawmaker explained that the project will complement the government effort on economic growth and enable nation’s migration from the current mono-economy into a diversified one.
He said NNPC was transitioning toward becoming an integrated energy company to support the President’s economic diversification efforts.
