Tears of joy and jubilations at Keta and Maitoshi villages of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara state as nine abducted persons regained their freedom from kidnappers.
The Triumph gathered that the victims who were kidnapped on the day of presidential primary election few metres away from home on their way to the venue of the election returned home early morning last Saturday.
A reliable source from one of the victims’ families disclosed that the victims were released after paying a ransom to the abductors.
According to the source, when the victims were kidnapped, the kidnappers had demanded for a ransom of N2million from each person and negotiations started ending at N1.8million for the nine of them.
The source revealed that the victims were released and returned to their families at about 5am last Saturday.
It was gathered that the families, well wishers and neighbours of the two villages broke out in tears of joy as they jubilated over the release of all the nine persons.
When contacted, the Zamfara state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Shehu Muhammad said he was not aware for the release of the kidnapped victims.
The Zamfara Police Command spokesman was quick to add that police are up and doing to ensure that lives and properties of every citizen in the state are protected.
