Niger State Government has said it is going to conduct issues-based campaign as it prepares ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Isah Ladan made this known while speaking to newsmen on preparations for the forthcoming general elections when members of Forum of Spokespersons of Critical Institutions in Niger State, FOSCIN, paid him a courtesy visit in Minna, the state capital.

Ladan, who assured all that the Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello administration, would ensure decency and decorum to take centre stage in its campaigns, also called on other political parties to imbibe the same spirit.

“Our campaign is going to be issues-based and we are calling on other political parties that since the party in power is going to ensure peace in its campaign methodology, we want all political parties to play by the rules and imbibe the principle of fairness to enhance enthronement of sustainable democratic process,” he urged.

“We want and we are going to encourage a free and fair election,” he emphasized.

He further assured both the law enforcement agents and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the state government’s support to enable them carry out their responsibilities without hitches, before, during and after the general elections, adding: “The state government is going to cooperate with all those that matter in the process so that we will have free and fair elections.”
