14 Zamfara PDP supporters die in auto-crash

A ghastly motor accident involving four vehicles has claimed the lives of 14 PDP supporters in Zamfara State.
The accident occurred around six o’clock in the evening on Wednesday along Tsafe-Gusau Road in the state.
The state Public Relations Officer of the party, Alhaji Faruku Shattima disclosed to newsmen that the victims were part of the people who went to welcome Governor Bello Matawalle who was returning to the state from Abuja after some days of official engagement.
Shattima said the victims were trying to catch the governor’s convoy when their vehicle collided with Dangote trailer where they died instantly.
He said that their funeral prayer was conducted yesterday, adding that they have since been burried according to Islamic rites.
The governor, in a message, condoled with the families of all the deceased.
Similarly, the governor directed for the observance of a three-day mourning in honour of the departed souls, as well as all flags should fly at half mast.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Public Enligtment, Alhaji Zailani Bappa, it said Governor Matawalle received information of the accident before reaching Gusau and he immediately returned to the scene and ordered for the quick conveyance of the corpses to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau.
